    La ultima noticia sobre esta competicion es una total sorpresa, despues de haber sido descartado de la lista de final, la India ha vuelto ha aceptar al RAFALE como finalista aduciendo que DASSAULT resolvio los problemas tecnicos encontrados en la fase anterior. Se pone interesante la carrera...

    La verdad que creo que esa aceptacion es mas que nada una deferencia a un suministrador "tradicional" de la IAF y que acaba de firmar contrato con ellos para el MLU/SLEP de los M-2000, pero en realidad el Rafale no tiene mayores chances en el MRCA, pero lo mataban en el marketing mundial al sacarlo asi con tanto "roche" del concurso.

      Es lo mas probable, creo que el RAFALE por ahora solo tiene chance con los Emiratos y tal vez con los Brasileros.

        IAI forced to withdraw support for Gripen's Indian bid

        The USA forced Israel Aerospace Industries to withdraw a proposal to supply an advanced radar to Saab as part of the Swedish company's effort to win a fighter contest in India potentially worth $12 billion.

        Sources in Israel said on 5 July that Saab had wanted to offer a radar from IAI subsidiary Elta Systems as part of its Gripen NG proposal for the Indian air force's medium multirole combat aircraft (MMRCA) deal, as New Delhi is already familiar with systems supplied by the Israeli firm. The contract is for at least 126 aircraft.
        Entre otras noticias con relativa incidencia, podemos mencionar que IAI se vio forzada por presión americana a abandonar su colaboración con Saab en el desarrollo del radar para el Gripen NG. El posicionamiento de Israel en tecnologías de defensa con la India le otorgaba a los suecos un importante "plus" de cara al MMRCA.

          MOSCOW: “We have pledged 100 per cent technology transfer for the MiG-35, including the radar and all its systems,” Tishchenko, General Director of the Russian company, Phazotron, told The Hindu.

          “Moreover, if India wants to build its own fifth-generation AESA radar, we could set up a joint venture for the job modelled on the Brahmos Aerospace Ltd. [an Indo-Russian JV that has built the superior Brahmos supersonic anti-ship missile],” he said.

          “We are prepared to share with India our 60-year-long experience of designing radars that has gone into building Zhuk-AE, which is as good as any Western radar today.”

          The Russian offer could come in handy as India struggles to build an AESA radar small enough to fit into its Tejas light combat aircraft. Russia’s Zhuk-AE is the smallest radar among all entrants in the MMRCA tender.

          Even as India recently sourced some avionics for its Russian-built fighter jets from other countries, it has consistently stuck with Russian radars. Phazotron has provided new radars for the MiG-21 and MiG-29 upgrades, while the other Russian radar manufacturer, Tikhomirov NIIP, has supplied radars for the Su-30 MKI fighter.

          Aviation experts say the on board radar accounts for 40 per cent of a modern fighter plane’s combat capabilities.

          “If India masters the AESA radar technology it would be a milestone achievement comparable to sending a man to space or building a GPS communication system,” said arms export analyst Konstantin Makienko of Russia’s CAST think-tank.

          Aparentemente la presion se estaria elevando a niveles muy altos. La tecnologia del radar AESA es todavia vetada a algunos paises por ser considerada informacion altamente sensible.
          Adicionalmente, la India habria exigido a los dos unicos postores con radares AESA plenamente operativos (Lockeed-Martin y Raytheon) incluir el modo de "radar climatico" weather radar mode a los modos air-to-air search, air-to-air track, ocean surface search, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) mapping, ground/sea target indicator and track and active beam mapping.
          Lockeed-Martin y Raytheon han aceptado oficialmente continuar con el desarrollo de los radares para cumplir con las exigencias de los indios.
